MIXED MEDIA JOURNALLING

CANVAS CREATING AND -
AN IMPORTANT INTRODUCTION TO SOME CHANGES...

I am having the greatest time getting messy!

I've posted a few mixed media pics already, but it is a JOY to get back to the Bohemian Art Samara.  I am taking a few courses on-line, with Balzer Designs, Whimsical Art Journals and Art Journalista and loving them.  It is reminding me just how much I love my natural inclination to art and creativity being so "out of the box" and so "me" - which really means absolutely no idea what I am doing until it is done *note - see below lol.

So here is a glimpe of the type of work I am creating.  I've done many journal pages, made different types of journals from scratch - from journal binding to transforming books, magazines and old children's books to journals to purchasing (ugh) materials which are some of the most exciting mediums I've used in ages!

These are the mediums I used in University, but haven't touched since.  Most of my Boheme art has been with Paper and Card/Scrapping Papers and Embellies/Accessories, so this is a real switcherooni.  I'm going to start to post the work on my blog - a new look and a new title.

From "IF THESE CARDS COULD TALK" into a new "IF THESE COLORS COULD TALK"  and then the second line that follows changed in order to represent what it all feels like inside of me.
I am so blessed for a transformation in my life...some really painful and difficult things are happening in my life at present - I am deeply in Grief regarding a Parent.  This shake up has enabled me to make some other changes that are really positive necessary and have been waiting for me to have the courage to make.  Getting out of the rut of my art style was one of the changes I felt has been coming for a while.  I'd like to share these changes with you.

Fun!

I've started showing you the mixed media pieces with a Canvas piece.  I hope you can get used to the change.

The rule of mixed media is: There are no rules!  However:
EVEN if you don't like it (which I really LOVE this piece) it is STILL to stay in the journal, not to be heavily judged and is from the soul.)  It is a wonderful representation, metaphor, analogy - all 3 -  of living life - day to day - and not censoring it, knowing that MIXED MEDIA ART JOURNALLING is for the Self!

SENTIMENTAL SUNDAYS - SUMMER FUN

OH IT IS ALMOST HERE!

I know this because my son is counting the day's until school is out!  I imagine your cubs are too.
Today was a fun challenge, due to the title, but a challenge for me, because it was a sketch.  Always a learning curve right?

The DT team did a stellar job this week.  Along side of our wonderful sponsors at SENTIMENTAL SUNDAYS :

The sketch is by our own DT Sandy at http://www.scribblesbysandy.blogspot.ca/

I hope you enjoy my card.

This week's card was all about texture and dimension for me;
of course I had to do 'something' to get beyond my fear of sketches!

Isn't that little envelope (the cool and 2cents - does my computer really not have a cents sign?) and the open little card adorable!

OK, this either looks gross of like real cheese and meat!  I used brown fluff and added orange paper for the cheese

THIS I had so much fun with...Yummalicious!

I have an ant phobia so I couldn't do this ant black!  I had to add some fluff on 'her' head!  I added a dimension with a plastic mirror over the bike.  Hey, it is red ants that bite!  Ouchie wawa...

And this is the inside of the wonderful "Summer Stories" line of paper.

SCRAP ROOM IDEAS

I saw the best scrap room ideas yesterday at  Michelle LaPoint Rydell's INSPIRATION EVERYWHERE blog,  so I decided perhaps it is time to put my room on my blog.  I've taken pics of my "stuffs" that is visible, and the cabinets that hold hardware, sponges, inks, vintage stuffs, ribbons, punches etc.  I hope you enjoy.

Everyone dances to a different drum...this is what works for me, though I am inspired by Michelle's storage for certain parts of her supplies and may just make a few changes!!

This works for me because with a swing of my chair I can reach anything!

SENTIMENTAL SUNDAYS...FOR A SPECIAL GUY

LIVE YOUR LIFE....IN COLOR!

Sentimental Sundays picked a goodie this week, with Father's Day coming up.  But some of us don't have Father's to give cards to, so we do "a guys card" anyway.

It got me thinking.  Why do guys cards always have to be so rough and tough and tumble.  Guys can be given chocolates, and flowers and all kinds of pretty stuff by us...and why not?  It isn't only we women that can benefit from the lovelies in this world...our guys are being left out!

So for my "special guys card" I made "a pretty."

I hope you enjoy it!

And remember to go over to SENTIMENTAL SUNDAYS and enter YOUR card for great GIFTIES!!!

I found this very cool fabric (the background color) in Walmart.

You will see over at SENTIMENTAL SUNDAYS that we are actually following a sketch this week

I just LOVE these peacock feather tails!  And of course, my fav colors.

But believe it or not, instead of using my beloved copics, I used watercolor paper and watercolors, my new medium for the multi-media courses I am taking with a few of the Sentimental Sunday's Teamies.  I sure hope "you" like color!

And that you too can picture this as a "Pretty" for Father's Day.

I have a rough and tumble card, but it is for another challenge.  I will give you a sneak peek, just for those of you who are choking at the thought of this for a man.  Get ready!

This is definately rough and tough and tumble!

Sneek Peek Only!

haha - enjoy the itsy preview!
